Walkin' in a winter wonder land.....

        The past few days have been crazy weather here.  Usually we have wind on top of wind but it has been beautiful.  The fog has been here for 2 days it hasn't lifted in the day and then it settles at night and freezes to the trees and to every little thing.  It has been absolutley gorgeous.  It really seems like Christmas when it looks like this...

Just remember this is not snow it is the beautiful master piece of Frosty.

         Christmas has come so fast this year.  I knew it would because I am not really preparded for the baby's arrival after the holidays, although I am unprepared I am still really very excited.  We decided to have the false tree put up instead of hiking through the mountains to find a real one. The smell is not the same and the experience was not as picturesque, but it was a good time none the less.  I thought it would be easier and less of a pain to put up and take down. It has been fun collecting decorations and ornements over our last 2 years. This will be our 3rd christmas together and our last just the 2 of us.  We better enjoy every minute because it will never be like this again, but I am looking forward to our future Christmas' with kids making memories and enjoying new traditions. It will be so much fun to have a little one next year, but I don't think we will have to get him anything he will only be interested in the wrapping paper and boxes anyway.  We are also going to be able to talk to Elder Bird on Christmas day. This is his last Christmas on his mission and the last time we get to talk to him on the phone before we get to actually see him in person in 3 months!

The village is Blaine's favorite part of decorating.  We got most of the homes and people from Blaine's Grandma and his Aunts and Uncles for our wedding.  We have slowly added some new things each year.

Yes, the small stocking is the Baby's!

         A new thing I have been able to expericne are the baby's hiccups.  I was talking to Becky on the phone one day and she asked if the baby has had hiccups yet and I told her no I don't think so, not that I would know.  Then she said that it was a very rhythmic movement. I said, "Oh that's what they are!" I guess I nedded someone to describe them for me. I started to feel them about 3 1/2 weeks ago I just didn't know what he was doing, now I know that it was hiccups! Duh Heather! Well needless to say he gets them several times a day now that I actually know what they are. 

         Last Saturday the 12th Irene, Terra, Mandy and Melanie threw a baby shower for me.  It was a lot of fun and they put a lot of work into it for me (and the baby).  The roads were teribble that day because of the continued snow fall but for the most part we had a great turn out.  Thank you everyone for your love and support in welcoming our bundle of joy!  Now we just need to get the little guy here save and sound to enjoy all his new things.  For those who have been wondering if this baby has a name, he does...we finally agreed to tell everyone... His name is Dayton Spencer Bird. We are very excited to meet him in about 4 weeks or when ever he decides to come!

Happy Birthday Blaine!!

Yesterday was Blaine's Birthday!  We got up and I made him his favorite breakfest, biscuts and gravy.  He got in the shower and while he was in there I put his card on the bed so it would be there when he got out.  I know pretty sneaky.  This is what it looked like. (I was pretty proud because I thought I was clever and it was fun to write with chocolate).

 Then he had to go to work.  I made dinner and we invited family to come for dinner and have cake and ice cream.  Mandy and the kids, Dusty, Melanie and the kids, and Irene were able to make it to our little celebration.  My camera wasn't working very well so the pictures I took are kind of blurred...Sorry.  (Better get that fixed before the baby gets here.) 

I had a tractor cake pan that my mom gave me but the cake and frosting Blaine picked didn't show the shape of the tractor very well, but it is the thought that counts!  I love you Blaine and I hope you had a very Happy 24th Birthday!

Owed to our 2 Year Anniversary (a little late!)

We were married 2 years ago on November 16 in the Idaho Falls temple for time and all eternity.  It was a great day to remember.  I know there are going to be a lot of pictures on here but pictures say a thousand words and because I am not good with words there are a lot of pictures!

Here is what our annocements looked like.

The day started with getting my hair done really early.

We took our pictures in the morning and then we were married at 11:00am. The luncheon was after the ceremony at Golden Corral.

The reception was that evening. I didn't want a wedding cake so I chose an ice sculpture instead (Dad made a tradition with Becky's wedding to make each of us a Hostess cake, he didn't carve the temple for us but he did make us a cute cake out of Zingers and Snowballs.  I didn't have a picture of that or I would have posted it too.)

We waited a week to go on our honeymoon because of Thanksgiving.  We went back to were Blaine served his mission in Southern California.  We went to Disneyland and it was set up really cute for Christmas. It was Blaine's first time to the "happiest place on earth" and I think I might have made his experience not the "happiest"...this picture was taken after I conviced Blaine to go on Splash Mountain and I promised that we wouldn't get wet hardly at all, having been on the ride a few years back.  Well needless to say I ate my words, we got soaked and it was freezing.  It was memorable and fun even in cold clothes!

We also were able to go to the San Diego Temple twice while we were staying in California.

We drove to Las Vegas and met my mom and dad there.  They were setting up for their art show, 'The Cowboy Christmas.'  So on our way back we helped them set up.  They took us to "The Tournament of Kings" and Merlin made us stand up infront of everyone and raise our hands and say "Hezah".  It was really embarassing.  Mom and dad thought it was great because they told him we were on our honeymoon. 

Now 2 years later, a baby on the way and I couldn't be happier! Wow it is crazy 2 years has gone so quickly.  I truly married the man of my dreams and I am living my fairy tale, "Happily Ever After."  Yes, there are the ups and downs but the ups out weigh the downs by far!  We love being together whatever it might be; going on the tractor, being with family, driving in the car (we drive a lot because everytime we go somewhere we have to drive long distances), going camping, cook outs in the canyon, snowmobiling, sitting around on sundays after church, watching movies and just spending as much time as we can together! (Farmers don't get much time off, so our time together is valuable.)

Blaine, I love you and I can't imagine my life with out you and I don't want to.  You are my best friend.  I admire and love all your qualities; you work hard and don't quick until the job is done, your patience reaches beyond the stars, you have a fun and likeable personality, you are a faithful priesthood holder, you are honest and loyal, you bring out the best in others and yourself, you respect women and their callings, and the list goes on and on.  I am excited to start this next chapter of our lives together, there is no other person I would rather enter the chapter of parenthood with then you.  I know you are going to make a wonderful father.  Our baby is blessed to have you for a dad!  Thanks for being you.  It is true that I loved you the least on our wedding day because my love for you will never stop growing.  I love you 'to infinity and beyond'!

Baby Update and Swine Flu

The other day I had my Dr. appointment and things are going good.  The doctor was a little concerned because I was measuring big.  He had me go in for an ultrasound to see if the baby is ok.  The ultrasound tech said that he is growing just fine and that he weighs 3 lbs and 3 oz so far at 30 weeks and that he has a little peach fuzz on his head.

This is our first big investment in baby gear.  It is cute and we are starting to get prepared.

Last week Blaine was not feeling good on sunday so I made him stay home from church...yeah it was a hard choice for him to stay home from church.  But on monday he was still coughing and wasn't in the best of shape so I drug him to the doctor because I didn't want things to get worse.  Well the doctor said it was all the signs of swine flu though he didn't test him for it, but he did treat Blaine for swine flu.  It was pretty bad for the first few days and now that a week has past he is doing much better!  It is pretty sad we thought living in the middle of no where had its advantages when it came to grems and sickness but I guess we have to be just as careful as anyone!

Happy Halloween

Here are a few pictures from our ward Halloween party.  It was a pretty good time.

Blaine and I are skeletons.

Thanks to the artistic skills of Alicia we were alble to have these awesome costumes.  She drew the skeletons, then we traced them on to shirts and then I helped her paint them last weekend.  We stayed up until 3 in the morning painting them, it was fun and we had a good time doing them.  This is the only way I was able to get Blaine to remotely dress up.  I told him all he had to wear was a shirt it could have been way worse, he could have had the whole get-up.  I think he was ok with just the shirt.  *Notice the cute little baby skeleton too!  That was the best part.  Everyone at the party thought it was so cute.  Thanks Alicia for all your creativity and help they turned out so good!

Mandy was "smartie pants" (she taped smarties to her pants), Emma was a very cute little pumpkin, Preston was a mocho spiderman, Hannah was a very trendy Hannah Montana's best friend Lola and Lance like Blaine hates to dress up.  Mandy is not as mean as me because I made Blaine dress up.

October Happenings

I knew once October came we didn't have much time left until the baby comes!!  Crazy...but we are also very excited.  I finished a blanket that I started in September for the baby.  Take a look...

I hope it looks like a boy I don't want anyone thinking he is a girl.

This is Blaine's cousins' Tyler and Jeremy on the deer hunt. Blaine is behind the camera so he is not pictured.  I was not there on opening day because I was working in Potatoes.  This picture was the following weekend. This deer and one other were the only two brought back...although there were many shots taken for more deer.  Blaine says they need to do more target shooting before they go hunting.  I am hoping the elk hunt this weekend turns out better for Blaine than the deer hunt.  We are going up to mom and dad's and Blaine and Andrew Black are going to Medicine Lodge to go elk hunting.  I wish them luck!

We had a doctor appointment yesterday and everything is right on track and going perfect.  The baby is growing and he moves so much.  (It makes me giggle when I am at church and can't fold my arms because I get a little boy kicking). I took my glucose test yesterday and I haven't heard back from the test so I guess no news is good news. I also got my H1N1 shot on Monday and I was kind of unsure about it at first but the doctor told me that it was good I got it because pregnant women have more complicaitions if they get the flu.  I feel so good it probably is not fair.  I started the 3rd trimester this week and now my doctor visits are every 2 weeks.  It is so crazy how quick this pregnancy has gone by.  We have a ward Halloween party tomorrow and then the big elk hunt this weekend so more pictures to come.  We love you all and wish you a Happy safe Haunting!

Harvest Time

The month of September has just flown by.  Wow, it is a little over whelming when we look back because we only have about 4 months to finish getting ready for our new little one.  I knew that once October came our time would just fly because of the Holidays that follow.  I decided to do potato harvest again this year and last week was my first week.  I asked the doctor and he said I could, for all your worry warts out there...and for the most part it went pretty smooth being the first week and all.  I did run into something new this year that was absent last year do to pregnancy, its a beautiful thing called swelling.  I didn't know that swelling hurt that bad, I just thought that your legs, ankles and feet got puffy but there is pain involved with that too.  So needless to say I have been drinking as much water as I possibly can (keep in mind that I am now a farm girl and toilets are none existing thing in a field) and I am eating lemons, limes and grapefruit to help control the  expecting pains when your expecting!  But enough moaning about the pains of pregnancy, I can feel the baby more and more every day and he is so much fun already.  I think we are going to have our hands full and he is going to be a little rug rat...like his daddy, but it is going to be a fun and challenging new chapter in our lives here at the Bird House.  Blaine is kind of slowing down a little bit with farm work and now comes the most important time of the year...Hunting Season!  Well whatever floats his boat, it is definitely not my thing to hunt but we are as opposite as night and day so we were obviously meant for each other.  He is entitled to do his fun and fulfilling things and I will do mine, this was an unspoken agreement when we first got married.  It is fun to see him get so excited, like a little boy, to go into the mountains and take his "cool toys" and spot a monster he is going to get this year.  I hope he just has fun as he enjoys his well deserved break for once and he better enjoy it now because come January no breaks for him. He will be at my every constant breakoning need. Well that just about updates the Bird house happenings.  We hope all of you are doing well.  This is our favorite time of the year when the weather cools, the air is a crisp smell, the leaves are changing into their beautiful colors of orange and red and we get to reap the benefits of what we sow...We hope you are all having a Happy Harvest too!

Blaine and I were getting some pictures together to send to his brother Mitch and I thought everyone might want to see Blaine too because in the summer he kind of disappears to his "office".  I hardly ever get to see him and just so you know yes, he is alive and well.  In order to spend time with him I pack us a lunch, go for a ride and visit him for a couple of hours.  I don't know of any other job that allows a wife to go to work with your husband and their boss doesn't even care.

He is a definite 100% BOY!  No questions.  The ultrasound tech had a hard time getting pictures because he wiggled the whole appointment.  I hope this is not a sign of the future. We are both very very excited to have another little farmer at this daddy's heels.

Tommorrow is the big day! Pink or Blue?

Just to update everyone tommorrow is the big day when we have the ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby! I can't believe that it is already here. We are half way through the pregnancy and I still I feel great...but if you ask Blaine he will beg to differ. Do we have any guesses...we both don't have any sway one way or the other but we both are hoping for a happy healthy little one. What are your guesses? I am gaining weight as to be expected but it is still a little discouraging to feel like a house. I can feel small movements now which is pretty exciting I just wish Blaine could feel it too, but soon enough! We will have a picture and the exciting Pink or Blue announcement tommorrow! Cross your fingers that the legs are not crossed!

Great Expectations!!!

Ok ok I know I am not the best blogger and sorry to all those who keep checking and there is always the same old posts....Well not this time there is more to add to our lives. The Bird's House is going to become the Bird's Nest in about 6 months. On May 18th Blaine and I found out we are having our own "little baby Bird". We announced the exciting news to our families on the 4th of July weekend and we are so very thrilled! This will make number 5 grandchild for mom and dad and number 9 for Blaine's parents! Blaine's younger brother Mitchell, who is serving his mission in Ohio, will be coming home to 4 new little ones! Crazy! I remember when we all teased him before he left about having 4 new ones but now it is a true story. The baby is growing fast and healthy and so is mom! I feel really good and I've never had morning sickness. I did feel beyond tired and nauseous for the first few months but now I actually have the energy and desire to make dinner and clean the house(Not that it happens but at least I have the desire and energy now!)Thank goodness for Ramen, SpagettiiOs and Cambell's for feeding my poor deprieved husband the last 3 1/2 months. Our expected due date is January 23, 2010! We need all the prayers we can get for living nearly 1 1/2 hours away from my doctor and it is going to be in the dead of winter. Blaine better take some laber and delivery classes... We are really excited to have the opportunity to become parents and also a little scared and nervous. We are very blessed to have such great examples in our lives to look up to including; parents, grandparents, siblings, and Aunts and Uncles. Thanks to everyone for their support and love. Continue to act exctied about all the news even though you have all heard pregnacy stories multiple times before but this is the first for me. And I apologize for the tears and crazy mood swings that happen along the way. The ultrasound will be on September 1st, when we get to find out what the baby is!!! We will try to keep you all up to date, with a picture and other info, toward the begining of next month.

April's showers bring May's flowers

My birthday was on Thursday and Blaine is such a sweetheart. He got up and cooked me breakfest at 6:30 he then woke me up before he had to go to work. It was such a suprise and so thoughtful. I went back to bed after he left and then he came home and gave me my present (which I am super excited about) it was a hot water bath for canning so I can use our garden more wisely this year. I am really excited to plant it too. I am just waiting until it warms up a little bit more. Blaine came home early and then we went to the temple, it was way over due but an awesome birthday present to spend time in the Lord's house. Then we went to Olive Garden for dinner, yum yum! It was a perfect birthday thanks to Blaine making it a special day for me! Yesterday was Mother's Day and I just want to thank my mom and Blaine's mom for all their love and sacrifice in our behalf. We are so blessed to have great Families. We had a wonderful sacrement meeting and then we rushed home to get changed and ready to go up to Blaine's parents house for dinner and the long awaited phone call from our favorite missionary, Mitchell. We had dutch oven potatoes and chicken, it was delicious. Mitchell called at about 3:30 and we all got to talk to him for a little bit. The anticipation was worth it. We are so proud of Mitchell and is good example to us. He only has 10 months left and only one phone call to go...pretty exciting. We called mom and talked to her for a little while too. Blaine told me yesterday, "Well Happy Mother's Day, even though you are not a mom." My reply to him was that I am a mother in Zion so it still counts. I love the month of May it is a beautiful way to begining the summer and ditch the freezing cold!

Good and Bad News but mostly Good

Bad news first, Mom was not able to come visit me today. We were going to spend a couple days together doing some fun things at my house but instead she had to stay home. Now for the good news, the reason she is not able to come is because Shelley and Riley had their new baby last night! She weighed 6lbs and 11oz and 19 inches. She was born approximately at 5:30 AM. Her name is Sophie Marie Bowman. We are so excited to go and meet Sophie tonight. We will get some pictures of her while we are there but until then take a glance at Mom's blog she has a few pictures posted there. She is a beautiful dark haired baby and she even lookes like both her Mom and Dad, (Sorry Scotty you have your very own look). Congratulations, Shelley and Riley with your new little addition! And I guess I will just have to wait my turn to get Mom to come visit me, maybe this weekend.

Where's the "Blogging for Dummies" when you need one?

Ok so we are finally starting our blog after a long time! Seriously, I am a dummy when it comes to these kind of things so be patient as I am still learning...like most things it takes me quite a while to learn. It took us about an hour and a half to figure out how to get just one picture on here so the pictures might be slim until I figure it out a little more. But I am really excited to start doing this because it is something I have been wanting to do for a while now. Our blog will be like my little journal without having to pull out a boring pen and a notebook, plus it is fun to catch up with everyone electronically too. Honestly, if there is a blogging for dummies out there let me know I would be interested!
