Happy Halloween!

I love fall and Halloween it my favorite time of the year.  It is the jump start it the holidays and so I take advantage of it.  Here is our festivities through the month of October.

Our little girl is growing up soo fast.  She had her 2 month check up early in October and she was in the 80th% for her weight and 60th% for her height. I thought she would follow Dayton's pattern but she is growing much faster then he did!

  

Daddy went hunting a lot this month so the kids and I spent time at home. These pictures are 2 different occasions when Blaine got home probably after a hunting trip and fell asleep with Macey. It is so sweet!

Blaine is of course the creative one on the left.  Mine in the middle, I pretty much drew the face and Blaine did the rest Macey was being a stinker and I had to help her.  Blaine also did Dayton's pumpkin as an elephant his favorite animal.

We went trick or treating around Holbrook with Mandy and the kids then went to the park for our ward party and potato bar. I was Mary Poppins, Macey was peas in a pod, Dayton was a dinosaur and Blaine was dressed in one of is late Grandpa Bird's old suits with cowboy boots. So Fun.

Dayton loved trick or treating. It didn't take long for him to catch on, say trick or treat and that equals candy! Macey slept the entire time.

Our nest of Four

Here is a quick over view of what has been happening the last few months with Macey in our family.

We have had a fabulous summer, we haven't even had time to slow down and it has been so much fun. I figure we can slow down in the long winter months ahead. The second child grows up so much faster than the first, I feel like I am missing it and she is only 2 months old.  We have taken her all over the place and last week she even had her first ride in the semi. (I forgot to get a picture because with the second I seem to do that a lot) but here are some of the pictures when I have remembered to pull the camera out.

(I just looked at the calender and noticed in one month today Blaine and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary. Time flies, but we never let the little moments slip away).  Hope you all enjoy the pictures of our little family as much as we do!!  

Dayton is a proud big brother and very protective of her! Grandpa Bird teases him and says, "My Macey" and Dayton doesn't like that so he responds louder and more energetically, "My Macey"!

So Sweet!!

We went to the Eastern Idaho State Fair twice this fall. This particular time we met up with my parents.  The other time we went with Blaine's parents. We love the fair it is so much fun and we especially love the food!!

  Blaine let me sleep in one morning and I woke up to find this!

We got to experience our new temple open house (Brigham City) and it was so much fun to take our little family into the temple.

It was so nice of Blaine's parents to take us to the open house, after we enjoyed a very yummy dinner at Maddox!

It is a beautiful temple, but more importantly is was so nice to enjoy the spirit we felt there. We know this is the Lord's house and it is His work that is done inside the walls of this beautiful building!

Dayton loved to see the temple! He kept telling us after we got home that he wanted to go to the temple again, I hope he can remember the feeling he had inside so that he will want to return when he is older.

Macey has been smiling since she was 2 weeks old. Her smiles are just getting bigger and brighter! We are so blessed to have this beautiful little girl in our home! (She is 9 weeks old and has a ear infection in this picture and is still smiling)

Our garden Dayton loved to go out and pick the peas...He would say, "Peas, sooo good"!

Blaine was the caretaker of our garden this summer, do to me being pregnant and then having a new baby. All summer long there was never a weed because he took such good care of it. We were able to get 25 quarts of beans and I told him it was because he was the farmer not me. That is amazing for a brand new garden. 

Dayton found one of Macey's bows and next thing I found was this, he knew it went in her hair.

It is so much fun to have a toddler and a baby.  I went to pick her up and I found Dayton had helped her get toys. He wants her to play with him pretty badly. I hope they will be good little friends when she can actually play!

Macey Leigh Bird

       She's here!! It takes a long time to get the baby here, (well a long time according to the pregnant mommy) and now that she is here, time is slipping through my fingers so quickly, hence the long time to get an updated post.  Macey Leigh Bird was born August 2, 2012 and 12:58 am. weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and  21 inches long...following in her daddy and brother's footsteps, tall and skinny.  She has a very excited, proud and loving older brother who seems to love her just a little too much and it is hard not to get after him when he is always in her face.  I have all the details of her birth coming for another day but today I am just posting the much awaited pictures!   

I had my doctor appointment on Wednesday August 1st at 10:00 in the morning. Blaine and I dropped Dayton off with Blaine’s mom. We also took an over night bag for him just in case and we were on our way to the doctor together. We saw the doctor around 11:00 am. He was he on call doctor for labor and delivery and so he was late getting to the appointment. He checked me and stripped my membranes and told me I was a 3 and 25% thinned. The doctor had told us that if I went walking then it might progress things and he would check me again, to see if any improvements had been made, right before his office closed at 4:00 pm. I cried as we drove to get lunch, I was really hopping for a baby and was devastated because I had gotten my hopes up. On our way to Lunch we made a quick stop at K-mart and did a return and bought 2 adorable newborn shirts and we found a toy car (Mater from Disney’s Car’s) for Dayton. We went to lunch at Grecian Key. It was perfect, the food was so good and Blaine and I were actually able to spend some much needed time together.

After we had lunch it was time to head to the mall and get walking. Blaine had baled hay the night before so he was running on only a few hours of sleep so I told him to stay in the car and get some sleep while I walked the nice air-conditioned mall. I walked the mall once by myself having an occasional contraction here and there but nothing steady or worth timing. Then Blaine met up with me and we walked around one more time. (I don’t believe he got any sleep while I walked). Then we went to Costco to pick up a few things and I walked there a little bit too.

We left Costco and got to the doctor’s office right before 4:00 pm. He came in and checked me and said I was a 4 and 25% thinned, he told us to go ahead and get admitted into labor and delivery. I couldn’t believe it I was not getting my hopes up this time and then he told us to stay I was so excited and nervous. We headed to Wal-Mart to get a few last minute treats and drinks and walk some more to help things along faster. We made the phone calls to let everyone know that we were going to be having a baby that night. I called my mom and told her the news and she hurried to get showered and was on her way to help tag team with Blaine during labor so he could get some sleep during the waiting time. We headed back to the hospital and got checked in around 5:30 pm. I had a small fever they suspected was from dehydration, so I was given an IV for fluid and I had to go to the bathroom frequently. We were there a few minutes and the nurse came in and told me to get changed and she told me she would be in and out because there was another lady that had just walked in and she was complete so she had to attend to her. Blaine and I sat in the silence and I could hear the lady next door with no pain medicine and I got really nervous and Blaine turned to me and told me he felt really sorry for me because I had to do that. I was scared too but not too concerned about the pain because I had plenty of time to get medication as opposed to that woman. Mom got there about 30 minutes after we got checked in.

Not long after mom got there I turned to Blaine and asked him for a priesthood blessing. He blessed me with comfort and peace. He also told me the doctors were knowledgeable and to listen to them when it came time for medication. The blessing was beautiful and I was told that everything was going to be okay.

They checked me again around 8:00 pm and I was only a 4 maybe a 5 and 70% thinned. I was not progressing as quickly as I thought I would be. My nurse told me I could get up and go walk, which would be the best to help labor move more quickly, but I had to be monitored for 20 minutes out of each hour. When I was up and moving the labor was more intense and as soon as I stopped and had to sit in bed labor would slow down. Mom and I walked the halls while Blaine tried to get some sleep. Then we would have to go back to the room to be monitored. I did this for a few hours stopping in the hall to breathe through each contraction. I was told that the baby was not dropping so I had to walk and stop with each contraction and move my hips to help her drop. Finally around 11:00 pm they had called the doctor in and he broke my water at 11:30 pm. I was at a 5 and 100 % thinned. They told me as soon as I was ready for the epidural to let them know because it took 20 minutes for the anesthesiologist to get there and 20 minutes for him to give it to me. I was ready to have the epidural and by that time another woman was getting it before me so I had to wait. Well by the time the anesthesiologist came into the room I was ready to push. I did it all natural and I could even tell the doctors that I knew when to push. It was really intense and extreme but I did it. I told the nurses and doctor that I was going to brag myself up and tell everyone that I did it all natural because in these days woman just don’t do it that way anymore. It only took me 3 pushes and she was here at 12:58 am. She weighed 7 lbs and 9 oz and was 21 inches long. We had a small scare when she was born. She had the cord wrapped around her neck and forehead twice. I didn’t know that at the time but mom and Blaine were really nervous. This was the cause of her not dropping down during labor too. The nurses let me hold her for a few seconds before they wisped her away.

When I saw Macey for the first time I thought she looked so much like Dayton it was crazy. She was the most beautiful baby with a full head of dark brown hair, and big dark eyes with 2 very extremely cute dimples. Her daddy was right by her side. When I looked up he was holding her as soon as the nurses let him and it was the most precious thing I ever saw. Moments like those are truly a piece of heaven on earth. We stayed in the delivery room for a few hours so they could monitor me and make sure everything was ok. I felt so good after she was born and I am not sure it was because I had not medication or because I was the happiest mommy ever. Blaine was finally able to fall asleep so just I chatted mom’s ears off while she held Macey, I was still pretty shaky so I didn’t trust myself to hold her. Mom was so tired and I felt bad for keeping her up. I didn’t remember being that shaky with Dayton after he was born.

We got moved to the recovery room at 4:00 am. I didn’t get much sleep that night because I had to feed her every 2 hours and the nurses had to check me every so often as well. Mom went to her car to get a few hours of sleep. We got up around 8:00 am. Irene brought Dayton to come to see us around 1:00 pm. Dayton brought Mom and Macey a smilie face balloon tied onto a green gerbera daisy . He was so excited to see her. He gave her lots of hugs and kisses. I expected him to be jealous and he wasn’t and hasn’t been ever since we brought her home. We also had Terra, Paityn, Kendon, Melanie, Dusty, Madison, Keathen, and Burklee come visit. After they left Alicia and Carson came and then Grandma Sorensen, Nadene, Natalie and Jaxston came to visit. My dad came later that evening. Mom left and picked Dayton up from Jeff and Irene’s and brought him home to our house.

We had to stay at the hospital an extra day because when they found out that I was group B strep positive with Dayton, they wanted to watch her closely even though with her I was group B strep negative. We had a very relaxing day on Friday and we mostly caught up on sleep and rested. Irene came and visited with Grandpa Sorensen because Grandpa was being released from the hospital that afternoon.

Saturday the 4th we got ready to bring our beautiful baby girl home. We were released from the hospital that afternoon. We had to make a stop at the store to pick up medicine. Blaine was the one who ran in the store we didn’t want to expose our little angel to any germs. Then we got on our way. Dayton and Grandma Connie were waiting for our arrival. Dayton was thrilled to have mom and dad home and he never once had a hard time with the new baby. He loved her instantly. It is funny to me that he reacted that way, I thought he would be mean and hit her or would get jealous of her but his behavior was extraordinary.

Macey is a good good baby. She sleeps 4-5 hours at night and eats every 3-4 hours during the day. It makes a mommy happy when a baby sleeps! We love her and love having her in our family!
