Celebrating my birthday and Mother's Day

Since my birthday and mother’s day are only a week apart all I asked for was to spend time with Blaine and Dayton.  So we went to Salt Lake for the weekend and took Dayton to the zoo and to Temple Square.  The first day we got there we took Dayton to Temple Square and let him see the temple and the Christus.  He loved it and was so excited to be there.  Then we took him to the Beehive house and he was excited to see the prophet's house.  Then we went back to the hotel and made roman noodles for dinner and took Dayton to the hot tub.  The next day we slept in, went to the store to get breakfast and then went to the zoo.  Dayton’s favorite part at the zoo was seeing the elephants and the train ride, of course.  He is still talking about the elephants at the zoo.  We finished at the zoo then went to Ikea and browsed around then went to Cabela’s and then went and ate at Olive Garden.  We got back to the hotel and crashed.  The next day we packed up and headed home.  We had a really fun and relaxing time…couldn’t ask for anything better.

New Family Pics

Thanks to my darling sister in law we have these amazing new family pictures!  She is testing out her photography skills and we are very happy to be her guinea pigs...sorry Mandy you had your work cut out with us.  Dayton was being very stubborn but she was so sweet to work around his 2 year old attitude and snapped some pretty fantastic pictures.

Baby Bird is a......????

We have known for a few weeks now what the baby is but as you all know I am a slow blogger. We have some redecorating in store because baby Bird is a GIRL!! We are very excited to have one of each now, but we are still just hoping for happy and healthy. Here are some of those awesome ultrasound pics where everyone can tell what everything is! (Sorry I don't have a scanner so the pictures are even harder to see).

Here is our sweet little girl's profile.

Our Easter was a little crazy this year Dayton threw up on Friday and then was fine.  Then Saturday night at midnight after my long day of cleaning and sterilizing he got sick in his bed.  So thanks to my sweet husband, I didn't have to clean it up by my self.  Here is Dayton's 3rd Easter, laying on the floor surrounded by towels and buckets watching Cars...I am always over careful when it comes to this kind of sick!  The Easter bunny still came and brought him cars from the movie Cars, candy (which had to wait), play-doh, and color wonder markers and paper.  He is a very sweet boy even when he is sick but a 2 year old doesn't ever have time to be sick.

He is still so happy for being sick.

Dayton being his silly self!  Learning to move his body is a different way.

Last night Dayton found a doll that my sister had crocheted and given to me and he had to take the baby to bed with him.  I leaned over and gave him a kiss and a hug and said good night and he grabbed the baby and said "baby a hug" so I had to give the baby a kiss and hug too.  He is going to be such a good big brother and help me so much.  Today he wanted to feed his baby cereal, I thought this is a perfect opportunity to teach him the "Do's" and "Don'ts" for a baby.

I just loved this...I had to get a picture of him with the plunger because his daddy has one very similar to it when he was near Dayton's age...like father like son!

Dayton spills the beans...

The news has been out for a little while now but we had to get Dayton on camera to tell everyone that he is going to be a big brother! (Although he is more excited to see pictures on the camera and his semi). We are very excited about our news. The little bundle of joy is due to arrive on or near August 10th and it is already coming fast. I am feeling better and finally over the completely exhausted stage. Heartburn is still not my friend and I am afraid that it will be the constant battle I am faced with the entire time... oh well it is the price I pay for one of Heavenly Father's choice spirits. In 4 more long weeks we are going to find out if Dayton is going to be a big brother to a brother or a sister and we are all looking forward to the exciting day.

We are doing really well and Dayton is growing up so fast. He makes us laugh every day. One day I put him in the bath and he started coughing and kind of choking and I haulered to him and asked if he was ok and he said, "a bubbles a nose".  Another time I was fixing him some juice and added the flavoring in his sippy cup, I wanted to see if I added enough so I took a little sip and he looked at me and said, "Hey, dat mine".  It is hard to remember all the funny and cute things he is doing because there are so many! He can climb in and out of his crib now, and climbs to the snack cupboard. He says everything we say and copies everything we do, especially what Blaine does. He knows circle and square. He knows the sounds of a cow, horse, cat, dog, duck, rooster, pig, elephant, bear, tiger, chicken, monkey, fish, bird and an owl...maybe more but that's all I can think of right now. Blaine taught Dayton to feed his stuffed duck animal and he quacks the loudest when he is asked what a duck says. He often finds stuffed animals and tells them "night night" and puts them in his bed. He still loves Elmo, Baby Einstiens, Thomas the Train, water, and anything that has to do with semi trucks, cars, and tractors. It is all I can do to keep him indoors. If it were up to him, he would live outside. He tells me all the time "tank ou mom". He packs around his "duice" (juice) and "wanky" (blanky) all day long. He asks for "duice a more" and "cumbers a more" (cucumbers and carrots are his favorite healthy thing to eat). His favorite unhealthy thing is a "nack" or snack because it means anything that has to do with candy. He loves to run around the house saying "hurry hurry" and "getee up, eehaw". He loves playing with kids and cousins...he is ready to have a brother or sister to play with so he doesn't get so bored. We ask him who he loves and he says "daddy mom". I love to see him growing and learning everything life has to offer but my most excited and joyful moments are when we pass a building and he says "temple", or when I put on a dress and he says "church" asking me if we were going to church. It is amazing to see him gaining a small testimony about the gospel already. He wants to go to nursery and learn about "Jesus", and "protits"(prophets).

Blaine received a new calling a couple of weeks ago to be elders quorum president. It is going to be a great blessing for our family. I am nervous to try and get Dayton and myself ready for church in time while Blaine is in early morning meetings but somehow we will manage. I am grateful to Blaine for his strong testimony and helping me to shape up and do the right things. I am thankful to have a helpful husband. He has so many great qualities and they have especially been shinning while I was not feeling well the first trimester. Last weekend I had the opportunity to sing in a mother's choir for a special Relief Society meeting for our stake. It was an honor and a blessing to be there in attendance because the General Relief Society president, Sister Julie B. Beck, taught us.  It was a much needed day to get the sisters gathered and learn about our roles as wife, and mother are divine callings. Sometimes it is not always easy to remember that it is a privilege and a gift from our Father in Heaven.

Dayton's Swimming Lessons

Dayton just finished his first swimming lessons last week.  We had so much fun! They taught him to plow bubbles in the water, we did humpy dumpy sat on the wall, ring around the rosies and fun things like that for little kids.

Dayton has a silly face going on here!

This was the class we were in.  It was a mom and tot class and Dayton did really well considering it was right before his nap time.  He loves water!
